Book Review Guidelines

1. The length of reviews for Journal for the Study of Bible and Violence is approximately 900 words. A modest revision in length can be accommodated if the book merits either a longer or shorter review.

2. The review should include a clear account of the contents, the scope, and the conclusions of the book. Describe any particular merits or defects.

3. Page numbers should be provided in parentheses for lengthy quotations, but not for 2-3 word phrases. We do not use footnotes in the book review section.

4. The reviewer should submit the review as a Word document e-mail attachment (sent to: maria.power@bfriars.ox.ac.uk)

5. We reserve the right to edit your review in accordance with our practices and standard editorial usage. Please format your work in accordance with the SBL Handbook of Style (SBLHS).

6. The review heading should appear in the following format:

Melvin Small. Covering Dissent: The Media and the Anti-Vietnam War Movement. New Brunswick, NJ: Rutgers University Press, 1994.

7. Include your name and affiliation at the end of the review.

Your help is greatly appreciated, and the book is yours to keep with our compliments.
